About the Role

We’re on the hunt for an experienced and passionate engine builder to join us on a part-time basis to support the preparation of MG ZR 170 race cars in line with MGOC Championship Class B specifications.

Whether you’re semi-retired, work freelance, or just want to turn your passion into extra income, this is a chance to work on well-looked-after engines in a focused, motorsport-driven setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Strip, inspect, and rebuild MG ZR 170 (K-Series) engines to championship regulations
• Identify worn or out-of-tolerance components and advise on parts sourcing
• Work to agreed tolerances, compression ratios, and balance limits
• Assemble engines ready for dyno testing or track installation
• Maintain a clean, organised workspace and document all builds

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience building K-Series or equivalent 4-cylinder performance/race engines
• Strong understanding of MG ZR 170 components and MGOC regulations (or willing to learn quickly)
• Excellent mechanical skills and a keen eye for detail
• Able to work independently, reliably, and with pride in your work
• Flexible availability – you may be needed for 1-2 engines per month, depending on the season

Bonus If You Have

• Previous experience in club racing or building engines to scrutineered spec
• Access to your own workshop or tooling
• Ability to help with dyno runs or trackside support (occasional)
