Role: Waking Night Personal Care Assistant

Reports to: Lucy Balley

Location: SP11 0JY – Home address of Client

Issue Date: May 2025

Purpose of Role:

To assist 28 year old male with epilepsy, autistic tendencies and learning difficulties when he wakes during the night. To be responsible for supporting him at all times especially when out of bed and never leaving him alone, in case of seizure activity.

Key Accountabilities:

· Assisting with all activities, ensuring every possible step is taken to ensure his safety.

· Assist him with going to the lavatory and other personal hygiene routines.

· Administer first aid during any seizure activity and ensuring his safety is paramount during all bouts. Emergency medicine may be required to be administered.

· Where appropriate supporting him with decisions, being persuasive where necessary with a view to promoting independence.

– Have a positive outlook at all times in an effort to ensure Joe’s experience with you is as happy and pleasant for him as possible.

· Where necessary prepare drinks and meals as agreed with Mr. or Mrs. Balley.

· If necessary, ensure he takes his medication at the appropriate times.

– Keep environment clean, tidy and sanitised. This may involved some cleaning tasks.

– Change clothes and bedding as necessary.

Role Requirements:

· All appropriate Covid 19 vaccinations preferred.

– Have own or another reliable method of transport to setting.

· Two satisfactory references.

· Where appropriate ability to conduct lateral rapid Covid-19 tests per week and report the findings to client.

· Ability to operate without assistance and be physically well and healthy to perform all key accountabilities.

· Be first aid trained (Desirable on application or employer can arrange this).

· Have the appropriate DBS clearance (Desirable on application or employer can arrange this).

· Be able to work the agreed number of hours per week (except for holidays) on a flexible basis to suit both employee and employer.

· Have a happy, caring and understanding disposition, with the ability to cope with the autistic tendencies. A sense of humour would be beneficial.

· Be literate, with good communication skills.

· Be reliable, punctual, polite, trustworthy and meet the high standards expected at all times.

· Have the ability to work on own initiative, and be as proactive as possible, sometimes under stressful conditions.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: £16.00-£25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
