Job Responsibility:

Job OverviewCompass Engineering, isan established, family owned design and build steelwork contractor for distribution warehouses and low rise structures. With their head office based in Barnsley they design and manufacture structural steel solutions for installation throughout the UK.

They are currently looking to add to their Senior Management team with the appointment of a Design Manager. Reporting directly to the Board you will be responsible for all technical aspects of projects including producing steelwork designs using the latest technology/design software. As a Structural Engineer (preferably chartered) you will have gained substantial experience in the structural steel industry with a bias towards portal frames.

Your technical expertise must be outstanding but we are looking for an individual who can support this with strong leadership skills and the ability to train/encourage other team members. There is a clear career progression route for the successful candidate and as such you will also need to demonstrate commercial acumen and a proactive, innovative work style. Experience in value/cost engineering in both design and fabrication is important in addition to your ability share you experiences and develop new ideas with others.
