What you'll be doing:

This is a data role within the Commercial Pricing and Underwriting department. You will support your team in providing an innovative and effective analytical modelling and pricing platform, using blending and reporting tools such as Alteryx and Tableau with a focus on in depth analysis of data and delivery of modelling/pricing recommendations for various commercial disciplines.

The role will be either London or Leeds based. Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office

What you'll need:

  • Incorporate data into existing and new pipelines by bringing data from any source/platform and associated tools that can be used for Pricing and Underwriting (P&U) teams.

  • Manage data processes and data processing requirements for all key commercial BAU and P&U processes.

  • Assist with planning and assembling of requirements for new sources of data for modelling and wider P&U

  • Be well versed in Data Governance, process checking to ensure data integrity.

  • Work closely with P&U teams, implementing structured data suitable for their uses and produce quality MI using Alteryx/Tableau.

  • Develop yourself in order to maximise your personal contribution to the team and identify opportunities to gain additional skills, including through secondments and/or rotations

  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriately to this role, in line with the company risk framework. Communicate to peers and team managers in a timely manner where you have discovered price, model or data issues and suggest appropriate remedial actions

  • Plan, manage and deliver specific tasks and projects in a pro-active, timely and accurate manner, providing insights, impacts and recommendations

  • Build, Support and help further develop Alteryx based data models and management information reporting in Tableau.

  • Provide analytical support and insight to inform business decisions and strategy, with a responsibility for ensuring robustness of output

  • Engaging in technical discussion with external suppliers as well as internal stakeholders to ensure current and future business needs are met

  • Interact effectively with peers in other areas of DLG to improve knowledge share and understand impacts of your work across the wider business.

  • Identify opportunities for improvements to enable tasks to be performed in a more efficient manner. Challenge current processes appropriately with suggestions as to how these can be refined

  • Develop knowledge of pricing and underwriting systems and processes; develop your business, market knowledge and awareness of relevant industry issues which impact your area & incorporate in the work that you do

  • Develop yourself in order to maximise your personal contribution to the team and identify opportunities to gain additional skills, including through secondments and/or rotations

  • Ensure compliance with core DLG Policies, statutory and regulatory requirements, governance controls (including all relevant risk minimum standards) and timely completion of risk and audit actions, ensuring reputational risk is minimised

  • Reinforce the culture and core values of DLG through appropriate behaviours and actions

Business:

  • Must have a good understanding of General Insurance.

  • Excellent understanding of data quality principles.

  • You will exhibit excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate working wthl senior stakeholders.

  • You will be a strong team player but also be able to use your own initiative.

Technical:

  • At least 3 years experience in two or more of the following Alteryx, Tableau and SQL.

  • Relevant data work experience within a similar pricing or analytical role highly desirable.

  • You will be educated to at least degree level or equivalent in a numerically focussed degree

  • Advanced knowledge of data ETL and database structures.

Knowledge of R and Python data and analytics methodology and pertinent library packages an advantage.
