Job description Role - Technical Account Manager (Wire Rod) Location - Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, DN16 1XA Grade - D Pattern of Work - 36.5 hours, days What you need to know about the role Here in the Scunthorpe Rod Mill we pride ourselves on our relationship with our customers and going above and beyond to ensure our customers receive the best service and support. As a Technical Account Manager, you will act as the primary technical contact for a dedicated region for all customer technical communications, with a key focus on offering product support, technical guidance and knowledge, as well as support with new product development. Working in a customer focused environment you will build a strong metallurgical and processing knowledge of our diverse product range in demanding markets that require a quality focused mindset, and an ability to represent the voice of the customer to the rest of our organisation. This role sits in an exciting position between many different functions, collaborating between our customers, the sales commercial team, mill operations and the wider business technical team (inc R&D) you will build strong and lasting relationships ensuring good communication and delivering solutions to build positive customer satisfaction. Receiving customer enquiries regarding existing and new products, you will translate and understand processing requirements and product applications for our business teams and mill operations. Responding to NPD or customer queries, including evolution of products or complaints of previous supply, you will be working with Operations colleagues to implement improvement activities or corrective and preventative actions. Alongside the core responsibilities of your given customer base, you will also be required to support the activities of the team, including day-to-day tasks such as quality management. The ideal candidate will be tenacious and be able to challenge, question, and refine our processes through continuous improvement. As a representative of the business, regularly liaising with clients directly, the role requires a responsive and empathetic approach. The Technical Account Manager will visit customers, prepare technical information and update the customer of any relevant product and process updates. National and international travel required as part of the role. A full driving license is also required. What we need to know about you Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent in a Science or Materials-based subject, although exceptional experience will be considered.

• Experience in a customer facing, scientific or materials environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to form rapport at all levels in the business.
• The ability to analyse and present data to inform decision making.
• An ability to challenge the effectiveness of processes and drive change in an organisation.

Other experience that is desirable in this role:

• Experience in the Wire Rod or Steel Industry, particularly customer facing
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques / Six Sigma
• Knowledge of metallurgical testing methods and standards.
• Awareness/Experience of IATF 16949 principles and core tools, such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA and SPC
