Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Manager to support the daily operation of our thriving preschool. The successful candidate will work closely with the Preschool Manager to ensure a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, while also leading and motivating a team of early years professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Preschool Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting.
• Lead and support the staff team to deliver high-quality early years education and care.
• Ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare is promoted.
• Implement and monitor the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
• Conduct regular observations and assessments of children’s development.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with regulatory requirements.
• Support staff development through mentoring, training, and performance reviews.
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies.
• Take responsibility for the setting in the absence of the Manager.

Requirements

• Level 3 (or above) qualification in Early Years Childcare or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in an Early Years setting, with some leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of EYFS, safeguarding, and child protection procedures.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a team.
• First Aid and Safeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable

• Level 4 or 5 childcare qualification or working towards it.
• Previous experience as a room leader or deputy manager.
• Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and inspection frameworks.
