Job Responsibility:

Add value and shape our future as Transport General Manager, leading our operation and colleagues within our 8 site locations, that covers across UK and NI. There's an abundance of opportunity for you to impact, with ownership and accountability for a £45m+ transport budget, delivering across our 190+ fashion retail stores, this is a varied leadership opportunity that involves a combined operation of direct store delivery, trunking to outbases, cross docking services and final mile store delivery.

You'll be leading our customer relationship, through strategic partnering and leading the operational actively through your operational management team, ensuring we offer best-in-class service through safety, commercial, profit, retention and contractual objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Resource management and control, including fleet build & renewal strategy, people recruitment, development, engagement & retention to delivery customer volume within agreed KPIs and open budgets.
  • Safety, legal and policy compliance including fleet audit compliance, Ops Ex standards compliance and delivery of a safe operation through the achievement of H&S standards and KPIs.
  • Deliver operational solution to delight the customer within agreed KPIs, including yard management across both sites in the Midlands campus, trunking from Midlands campus to multiple outbases across the UK & NI.
  • Set strategy for the contract to delivery objectives and continuous improvement for our customer and Wincanton, communicating and cascade the strategic road map, through colleague engagement and empowerment for meaningful, purposeful work.
  • Own the closed book procurement and management within SLA of subcontract hauliers, for trunking to Ireland, the operation of an Irish Outbase and final mile store delivery in Ireland with agreed budget and service KPIs.
  • Represent the Contract at regional/national conference and collaboration opportunities to drive synergy and innovation to add value.

What will you bring to our team?

  • Strong seasoned GM experience, with large open book budget responsibility and leading all aspect of the contract and operation, with proven delivery and innovative performance/operational excellence.
  • Knowledge of customer lifecycle with start ups and maturing the operation, including knowledge of support services (3PL).
  • Exemplary customer relationship management skills with flexibility in style, approach and engagement with numerous senior customer partners.
  • Excellent commercial acumen, with dynamic understanding of ‘open/closed book' contracts.
  • Succeeds in building effective stakeholder and colleague relationships with the ability to influence management team's thinking to deliver high performance through a culture of inclusivity, accountability and ownership. Note: Role based in Northamptonshire with travel to outbases across UK and NI.
