Job OverviewThe Buttery is a busy traditional 52 cover cafe tea room with outside seating for 16 that is open 9.00am-5.00pm daily. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Front of House Supervisor to join our small vibrant team. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our service operation, ensuring that our guests receive exceptional service and that our front of house team operates smoothly. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of service in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Supervise and lead our front of house team, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Oversee beverage and food service, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while delivering excellent service.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure seamless communication between front of house and back of house operations.
  • Train new staff members on service standards, food safety practices, and company policies.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and efficiently, striving for resolution and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the front of house area in accordance with company standards and hygiene regulations.
  • Carry out end of day till read and cash up.

ExperienceThe ideal candidate will possess:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within the hospitality or restaurant sector.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Supervise service on the floor, leading by example to deliver a smooth, confident, and friendly service.
  • A presentable appearence and a pleasant personality.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality customer service in an at times fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, optimistic team player with a hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Barista-trained, with excellent coffee making skills and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, professional, and approachable with excellent communication skills.
  • Confident using POS systems and service related technology.
  • Cash handling experience.
