The Data Protection and Privacy (DPP) Department led by the Head of Group Privacy are keen to recruit an inquisitive and curious Data Protection Executive to help provide guidance and assurance to the business on compliance with its Data Protection responsibilities.
This is an exciting time to join our experienced and supportive team which has recently restructured to help Admiral Group Plc meet its Data Protection responsibilities in an increasingly data driven world. This is a role sitting in the newly formed Office of the DPO with responsibilities including Assurance and Communications and Training.
You will work across the whole Admiral Group of businesses and will primarily be responsible for helping identify data protection risks, testing and maturing controls and driving improvement as well as helping deliver wider team objectives and contribute to projects as they arise across the Office and wider DPP Team.

Formal qualifications and experience in Data Protection are less important than a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and having a helpful and pragmatic mindset in contributing to an award-winning team.
Main Duties
The role holder will:
- Undertake Data Protection assurance reviews across different areas of the business to provide an assessment of control effectiveness and risk
- Make reasoned and risk-based recommendations for improvement to senior management
- Contribute to the development of the DPP Annual Assurance Plan
- Identify and gather information to help target areas of the business where further assurance may be required
- Undertake follow up reviews and report on ongoing risk
- Work across the Group and gain an understanding of the different approaches to data protection within different jurisdictions
- Have an understanding of the Privacy Controls Framework (PCF), Group Data Protection Policy and Group Minimum Standards
- Contribute to the wider work of the team by undertaking specific projects in Comms, Assurance and more widely across the function.
- Work with wider Group Risk, Compliance and Privacy teams to coordinate effort and share insights
- Keep up to date with latest legislation, regulations and case law in both Data Protection and more widely
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have:
- An understanding and ideally some exposure to Data Protection topics and related legislation
- An understanding of the role of audit, risk or assurance functions
- Ability to develop good working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels and become a trusted advisor
- An enquiring nature with the ability to gather and assess written and verbal evidence and reach balanced conclusions
- Ability to write clear, concise and evidenced reports for varying audiences
- Attention to detail with an analytical mindset
- Highly organised with ability to undertake multiple projects and maintain evidential records
- Understanding and pragmatic with the ability to appreciate and balance competing business risks
- Works well within a team and supports others
- Experience in the financial services sector
- An audit and/or Data Protection qualification
Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance
