Cancer Research UK exists to beat cancer. It funds world-class research pioneering new ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat the disease. It also engages with patients, policymakers, and the public to make sure advances in research improve outcomes for everyone affected by cancer. Made possible by the generosity of supporters and the strength of volunteers, staff, and people affected by cancer, Cancer Research UK funds around 50% of all publicly funded cancer research in the UK.
Cancer Research UK is supported by its Council of Trustees, chaired by global healthcare leader Sir Simon Stevens. The Council takes ultimate responsibility for the work of Cancer Research UK. The Council is looking to appoint three new Trustees in autumn 2024 to bring particular value in the areas of scientific research, digital consumer marketing, and Transformation. They will bring authority and credibility to advance and support the charity at the highest levels in the UK and globally.
