Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust provides child and adult mental health services, learning disability, wellbeing, older people's and eating disorder services across Norfolk and Suffolk. At any one time, around 23,000 people in Norfolk and Suffolk are receiving care and attention from the Trust. Job overview

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate and reflective dietitian to join our diverse and experienced MDT (our MDT comprises of psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists, systemic practitioners, mental health nurses, physical health nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and more) based

Community and Intensive Day Treatment Services working with young people (under the age of 18 years) who have an eating disorder and their families. Our Intensive Day Treatment Service is currently the only one of its kind operating in the East of England.

We use an FT AN (Family Therapy focus for Anorexia Nervosa) approach in both services, so knowledge of this would be of benefit. Our day treatment service supports young people and their families from across Norfolk & Waveney and the surrounding areas, for whom we are trying to avert a hospital or specialist unit admission for. Instead, keeping them at home with their family, friends and in their community.

Our day treatment service is currently expanding and as part of that expansion we are developing a virtual element to the programme. This will further enhance the support our service provides but also ensuring access to treatment 7 days per week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside two Band 7 dietitians in close collaboration with the MDT.

You will work within the Suffolk Community Adult Eating Disorder Service to ensure continuity and consistency of dietetic care for Adults with a range of eating disorders. Dependent on experience, this may include supporting MEED admissions, early intervention, group education and the VIT pathway.

Clinical work is varied and hugely rewarding. You will work with patients through the nutritional and physical consequences of an eating disorders providing evidence based advice to patients at all stages of their treatment. Assessment will include interpretation of anthropometric, biochemical and clinical indicators, weight history and dietary analysis.

This role requires you to work with patients across the county. There will be an opportunity to request a preferred base in Ipswich or Bury St Edmunds. However, some travel between sites will be expected.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Dietetic Degree at BSc or MSc level
  • HCPC Registered Dietitian
  • Strong evidence of Eating Disorder related CPD (portfolio)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knows the appropriate use of prescription feeds and supplements
  • Has good knowledge of first line advice for IBS, Coeliac Disease, Diverticular Disease, GORD, Stomas and lactose intolerance.
  • Understands different approaches to managing underweight patients
Desirable criteria
  • FT AN trained (Family Therapy Anorexia Nervosa)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A minimum of 2 years experience of working clinically either in a hospital or community setting and of working with an Eating Disorders service.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with people of all ages and families presenting with eating difficulties and managing complexities and / or Intensive Treatment Team service.
  • Working in a Community Dietetics service.

  • Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision.
