ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced and hands on Head of IT to lead our technology department. This role requires a Head of IT who can drive innovation, ensure robust IT operations and support our business objectives through effective technology management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic IT Leadership
  • Develop and execute the IT strategy in alignment with the company's business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction on the adoption and integration of new technologies to improve business efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Lead the IT department in planning, managing, and implementing IT projects.
  • Technology Management
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centres.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and security of all IT systems.
  • Manage the selection and implementation of software solutions to support business processes.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance
  • Develop and enforce IT security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and implement measures to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR and FCA guidelines.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality service delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of IT service providers.
  • Lead and coordinate internal and external IT audits to ensure compliance with FCA regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IT audit frameworks and policies.
  • Ensure continuous audit readiness by maintaining up-to-date documentation and evidence.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of user access policies and controls to ensure secure and appropriate access to systems and data.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of user access rights and permissions to maintain least-privilege principle and ensure compliance.
  • Manage the user access lifecycle, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, performance evaluation, and training.
  • Promote collaboration and effective communication within the IT department and with other business units.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, preferably within the financial services or brokerage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience of leading on technology audit.
  • Excellent strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
