Job Responsibility:
You will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the bar and catering functions within The Leicestershire Tennis & Squash Club including:
· delivery of a bar and catering service in line with Club requirements
· ensure the proper set up, readiness and cleanliness of the bar, kitchen and vending machines each day
· control stock and budgeting within the kitchen
· Ensure there is effective staff cover in the bar and kitchen during all advertised opening times and special events
· manage the provision of post-match meals if required
· manage the maintenance of kitchen equipment
· ensure all staff are polite, well presented and adhering to prescribed working practices
· ensure that regulations regarding hygiene and health & safety are up to date
· continually look to improve the catering profitability through effective buying, selling, promotion and control of costs
· report issues and communications to the Club Manager, and co-operate with Coaches, Maintenance Manager and Committee Members to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the Clubhouse
Note: Catering is required for three major tournaments which usually take place in April, July and August and last for a week each time. Post-match sandwiches and snacks are required from time to time for 8-10 players. We also run occasional club social events and parties.
Catering is not provided on a day-to-day basis, so the bulk of the role is around running the bar.
Essential Requirements
· Applicants must be flexible and able to cover bar and kitchen shifts as and when required
· Have valid Foodsafe certificates
· Applicants must have undergone some formal culinary training or have at least 2 years demonstrable experience in a similar environment
· Have an understanding of costing mechanisms for menus
· Be able and willing to work alone
· Be able to manage, train and work as a team with other staff and managers
· Be willing to propose new practices, promotions or initiatives to enhance the user experience of members
· Be friendly and helpful to other members of staff and club members
Desirable Requirements
· Experience working in a similar member club environment, such as a sports facility, hotel, pub or restaurant
· Be comfortable with a variety of food preparation methods such as BBQ, short order catering, catering for parties and events
· An existing understanding of the principles and rules of a members club
Hours and Terms
This is a part time position (20-25 hours per week). However more or less hours may be required during seasonal peaks or for events. Applicants should be able to change, or cover shifts as and when required within reason. Some weekend and evening hours will be required.
Staff uniform is provided.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.00-£14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week
