We are currently recruiting for a Cardiac Diagnostics And Outpatients Specialist Lead to join our established team at the Cromwell Hospital.

Due to the nature and responsibilities of this role we are looking for someone with substantial Clinical Cardiac Physiology experience, qualifications ( BSc Clinical Cardiac Physiology or BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or PTP equivalence), and proven personal development, who'll provide strong visible leadership within Cardiac Diagnostics and Outpatient areas and have the exceptional ability to represent the Cromwell Hospital as a subject matter expert.

The Cromwell Hospital is working towards providing Cardiac Diagnostic Services 8am to 8pm during business days. Therefore, there will be a requirement to work through flexible work swifts. This will entail some weekend working as part of your normal working week, which will be properly salaried, and there is also requirement for participation in an out- of-hours on-call Echo service.

You'll help us make health happen by:

The Cardiac Diagnostics And Outpatients Specialist Lead will provide strong leadership across the areas of direct responsibility and daily presence within all Cardiac diagnostic and Outpatient areas. You'll plan and implement overall standard operational policies and procedures and assist in extending the services provided with Cardiac Physiology.

In conjunction with the Head of Cardiac Services, you'll support specialised consultants' body with service delivery and resources within a multidisciplinary department, managing the day-to-day performance of their line reporting, create and maintain KPI, and ensures that project milestones and goals are meet and adhere to.

As part of our service expansion, in addition you should have experience in Non-Invasive Cardiac Physiology Diagnostics.

What you'll do:

  • Your specialised background will be Echocardiology, and you'll undertake echocardiographic investigations including adult, contrast (for left ventricular opacification) echocardiograms, bubble studies echocardiograms, dobutamine echocardiograms and assist with transoesophageal echocardiograms utilising a range of techniques including pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, colour flow mapping and tissue Doppler imaging.

  • You'll be an independent practitioner, able to perform and report resting transthoracic scans and rhythm analysis to permanent (CRM), temporary (Holter), rest (ECG) and exercise (ETT) modalities.

  • You'll lead on quality assurance in attaining clinical governance standards for Cardiac Physiology, Manages Cardiac Physiology audit programmes, providing monthly data as requested by the Head of Cardiac Services and internal and external governance bodies.

  • In conjunction with the Cath Lab & Cardiac Services Manager, create and maintain KPI and ensures that project milestones and goals are met and adhered to.

  • You'll create strategies to enhance service delivery, engage in digital transformation programs, assist in budget settings

  • The post holder will have supervisory and training responsibilities for trainee Echocardiographers.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • BSc (Hons) in Clinical Cardiac Physiology or BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or PTP equivalence (essential)

  • Transthoracic (TTE) Level 2 accreditation by British Society of Echocardiography or Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Certification by the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). (Essential)

  • Evidence of maintaining relevant Continuing Professional Development ILS - Immediate Life Support Course. (Essential_

  • Being fully competent at ECG recording and interpretation, exercise ECG stress testing and ambulatory ECG monitoring. ( Essential)

  • Although having certified specialised knowledge in Echocardiology should be willing to advance their specialised knowledge and experience in either Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory techniques or Implantable Device follow-up or Invasive Arrhythmia Therapy. ( Essential)

  • Ability to train other staff in the post-holder's specialist clinical-technical field(s) Ability to innovate practice developments and advances in the specialist techniques / service provided

  • Computer literacy to the level required to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of the post.
