Job Responsibility:

Family Support worker- 6 month Temporary contract with view to permanent contract

New Spring Family Residential Centre provides care and support for up to 5 vulnerable families.

Essential requirements of is post is to hold an NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young Peoples Workforce, childcare, Learning and development, Health and Social Care or equivalent in a relevant field.

As you will be completing written reports, a good standard of English is required

Desirable - Owner driver

The post includes supporting the team on both day and night shifts (waking and sleep shifts). Applicant must be flexible for both.

Role description

To work under the direction of the Care Manager to promote the understanding and importance of key parenting skills and appropriate behaviours to help the parents placed with the centre to reach their full potential. To contribute to the assessment of the parenting skills by observing and recording activities carried out throughout the day and night. To ensure any child in placement is fully safeguarded.

Responsibilities

· To follow direction of Registered Manager/Care Manager and carry out delegated tasks in a timely manner.

· To safeguard and promote the welfare and health of any child/adult staying with us, including the protection of the child from any harm/exploitation

· To undertake direct work with families in the residential family centre, in their homes and the community which safeguards and promotes the positive development of their children and young people using a solution focused and trauma informed approach

· To report and record accurately observations of babies and young children's learning and development .

· Monitor parenting behaviours including interaction with their children and record the observations.

· To speak up if there are any concerns that may affect the health and welfare of any child/ vulnerable adult or member of staff.

· To provide one to one care of babies and children

· To support family education sessions. To prepare and facilitate sessions for residents

· To attend all training as directed by the company, either direct or online.

· To ensure up to date with New Spring Policies and Procedures. To read Communication book and “To be read” file and complete Acknowledgement slips for HR Files.

· To ensure all daily/nightly health and safety checks are carried out and reports completed.

· All staff are responsible for the General Health and Safety of the house and any activities carried out. Staff are expected to carry out ongoing risk assessment throughout the working day/night and keep the Centre clean and tidy. Any problems noted with the physical material of the building must be reported to Management.

· To contribute to good practice standards within the company by identifying and

highlighting service shortfalls and assisting in the planning of developments to

meet such shortfalls.

· To be observant and report any health and safety issues within the building to management

· To report and if necessary whistleblow if you have concerns re the behaviour or practice of any member of staff including management.

FLEXIBILITY CLAUSE

Other duties and responsibilities expressed and implied which arise from the nature and character of the post within the company mentioned above.

Supervision and Appraisal

All members of staff will receive supervision and appraisal and it is the responsibility of each member of staff to follow New Spring Family Care Ltd procedure in respect of supervision and appraisal.
