Context / Scope Diageo is embarking on an exciting and significant business transformation through our global packaging technical specification workstream which will re-set our global specification processes. The role of the technical specifications team encompasses the full evaluation, standards setting and governance elements of a global process owner alongside the change management required to deliver this initial programme. The programme aims to change how we collect and manage supplier-sourced technical specifications that are managed within SAP PLM. Packaging product data requires future thinking driven by significant sustainability demands, this requires high validity of the packaging data quality to build trust and reputational benefits both internally and externally for Diageo. Purpose of Role The technical specifications packaging subject matter expert role will need to work cross functionally with our suppliers, manufacturing sites and technical teams to review all specification data to create a single specification, aligned internally and externally. Key Accountabilities
- The successful candidate will use their detailed knowledge of Labels, Corrugate & Paper Board packaging design to ask critical design questions in the development of new to world specification templates.
- This person will need to work closely with Diageo manufacturing sites to understand packaging quality challenges and implications of changes to existing specifications.
- The successful candidate will ensure that specifications are reviewed and signed off internally and externally to avoid any changes or disruptions to existing materials.
- This person will build an understanding of the packaging commercialization process and development of component specifications, working closely with the commercialization team to create and embed a process for specification creation and management of brand change and innovation projects.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking specification completion, advancing any challenges or potential impacts to the timeline.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- BSc in Package Engineering or related technical field.
- Extensive experience in direct packaging with specific packaging component experience in one of the following categories; Labels, Corrugate & Paper Board
- Has a developed understanding of packaging supplier's manufacturing capabilities and quality control parameters. Previous experience working directly with packaging suppliers is a benefit.
