Job Responsibility:
This role forms a core part of the financial control team - the central finance team for the business; processing supplier invoices, processing employee expenses, posting journals to close the ledger, completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, managing the day to day banking operations as well as providing support to the financial reporting, FP&A, actuarial and technical accounting teams with the onward reporting of the transactional data posted to the ledger.
This role would suit someone keen to progress their accountancy career, ideally studying toward a professional qualification.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the other areas of the business including customer services, the wider finance function, systems and business support.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Invoicing - act as the go to contact for invoices both internally and externally, maintain accuracy in coding and allocation through review against budgeted expenditure and against internal cost allocation requirements
- Accounting - processing data manually from multiple policy administration and claims systems into the ledger.
- Reconciliations - perform daily, monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reporting - Provide monthly reporting and ad hoc reporting/information to management.
- Payments - Manually processing both UK and foreign payments. Preparing and processing expenses and supplier payment runs in an accurate and timely manner.
- Queries - respond to queries from suppliers, employees, and internal stakeholders including FP&A queries on expenses.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders particularly Customer Services for queries and payment information to enable them to provide excellent customer services.
- Provide support and cover for other members of the Finance department.
- Ensure appropriate procedures and controls are documented and up to date.
- Know and follow the risk management activities for the duties set out above.
- Know the principles of Consumer duty and treating customers fairly and apply them as appropriate.
- Participate and lead in ad-hoc projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Knowledge of Sun general ledger would be advantageous.
- Currently studying a professional qualification
- Proactive with a curiosity nature when solving differences
- High attention to detail
- Good level of communication both written and verbally
