Asset Accountant - Milton Keynes

Dawsongroup plc is a national provider of commercial vehicle rental and contract hire solutions, operating from a network of strategically positioned depots across the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Accountant at our Milton Keynes operation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management & control of Dawsongroup truck & trailer limited asset financial records, as well as developing an understanding of the whole fixed lifecycle.

This role will keep you on your toes and has a lot of elements to it. Here is a flavour of what you'll be doing day to day:

  • Managing the fixed assets system
  • Calculating capital accruals
  • Producing invoices and relevant accounting entries
  • Suggesting process improvements
  • Taking ownership of the Road Fund Licence, including accruals & PP and reconciliation
  • Managing end of year provision
  • Monitoring assets not rented - un-utilised asset aging
  • Creating the businesses management accounts
  • Reporting on value add KPI

What we are looking for in the ideal candidate:

  • Experience working in a finance team
  • Experience with posting journals essential
  • Experience dealing with asset accounting would be desirable
  • Part qualified preferable - ACCA/CIMA
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle large data sets
  • Understanding of double entry
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ownership of the role
  • Ability to communicate with senior people within the business
