An Exciting opportunity has arisen at our Worksop club for a Evening Club Leader. This is an opportunity to become part of a dedicated team committed to providing a service for vulnerable people with learning disabilities.
Just Good Friends is a growing charity organisation offering support and encouragement to vulnerable people with learning difficulties and disabilities, helping them to take part in social activities and a degree of independence for an improved quality of life.
We provide day and evening activities over a number of venues throughout Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire for people with varying support needs. We also provide a nightclub venue once a month at the Aruba Nightclub, Chesterfield, with opportunity for expansion.
JOB PURPOSE:
As a club activity leader for Just Good Friends Club, you will be supporting vulnerable people with learning disabilities, helping them to take part in evening social activities in order to live a fulfilled life. Different people will need different support, and this is where you will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of each individual's need, and tailoring each club, outing or activity to each member's needs.
- Principle Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for keen and committed people to:
· To provide adults with learning disabilities support in group activities. You will be required to plan and execute these activities at the venue, supported by a network of assistants and volunteers.
· To encourage all members to engage in these group activities to avoid segregation and isolation.
· Identify risks and specific needs and liaise with outside agencies to manage and address these
· Attend meetings with potential members and their families/support workers to promote the positive image of the club.
· Monitor and maintain a safe and secure working environment for staff and members at all times.
· To attend nightclub events, outings, etc if required
· Other duties and responsibilities to ensure smooth and effective running of the club, sickness cover, annual leave, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· The ability to work under your own initiative and prioritise workload.
· A caring attitude
· All applicants will be subject to DBS due to the nature of the work
· Ability to follow Policies and procedures to safeguard members and staff
· Good listening and communication skills
· Full driving licence with business insurance
No experience necessary as all training and inductions will be given on appointment, however the following will be considered:
· Experience in the care industry
· A caring attitude
· The ability to encourage and empower people to become independent and involved in club activities
· The ability to deal with challenging behaviours and manage any risks involved to protect all members at all times
· Flexibility. This is a charity organisation and all voluntary hours are welcome and encouraged. In some circumstances additional voluntary hours may be required and sometimes at short notice
