Job Title: Head of Learning Teacher

Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator to join our team as the Head of Learning Teacher at our alternative provision. As the Head of Learning Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience for students who require additional support due to various challenges. You will lead a team of dedicated mentors and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive and flexible curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students while aligning with national standards and educational goals.
- Instructional Leadership: Provide guidance and support to mentors in delivering high-quality instruction that caters to individual learning styles and promotes student engagement and achievement.
- Student Support: Develop and oversee strategies for identifying and addressing the specific learning needs of each student, including those with special educational needs or behavioural challenges.
- Staff Development: Foster a culture of continuous professional growth by organising training sessions, workshops, and collaborative learning opportunities for teaching and support staff.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Establish effective systems for assessing student progress and monitoring academic and behavioural outcomes, utilising data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, parents, external agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting student learning and well-being.
- Leadership and Management: Lead by example, inspiring and motivating staff to uphold high standards of professionalism, integrity, and compassion in their work with students and families.
- Safeguarding and Welfare: Ensure the safety, welfare, and safeguarding of all students, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Community Engagement: Cultivate positive relationships with the local community and other educational institutions to enhance opportunities for student enrichment and transition planning.
- Administrative Duties: Oversee administrative tasks related to the day-to-day operation of the learning provision, including budget management, resource allocation, and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
- Substantial experience working in an educational setting, preferably with students facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and empower others to achieve excellence.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Sound understanding of relevant educational policies, practices, and legislation.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of school life.
- Willingness to undergo enhanced background checks and safeguarding training.
