Key Responsibilities for JOY Project Community Mentor:
· Support the referral process and inviting women in for enrolment.
· Undertaking accurate administration & recording of personal client data during enrolments.
· Keeping client records up to date weekly
· Supporting JOY clients to develop their own Personal Development Plan.
· Setting up and clearing of all delivery hubs for countywide delivery.
· Support the online JOY client conversation group.
· Ensuring all materials necessary for delivery are available or purchased.
· Responding to client queries & provide low level 1-1 intervention support to JOY women/clients as needed, signposting as identified and appropriate.
· Identify barriers faced by clients in need of specialist services and provide support and guidance to overcome these.
· Motivate and encourage women to become involved in and to become volunteers or mentors for the project.
· Support and manage volunteers on the project, alongside Project Worker and Project Manager.
· Encourage people to engage in training and development programmes.
· Work with the Project Manager to maintain accurate project records and report on outcomes.
· Promote the project with potential service users and the wider community.
· Act as a positive role model for people.
· Use reflective practice within supervision to inform practice.
Skills and experience needed for the JOY Community Mentor:
Experience- essential
- Evidence of a good general education GCSE maths and English grade C or above
· Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
· Good knowledge of, and ability to use, and support others to use, online technologies and applications safely, including social media and Zoom etc.
· Ability to maintain meticulous records using computer-based applications, and use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel.
· Have full driving license and access to a vehicle to deliver across county as necessary.
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good written & communication skills
· Willingness to develop and learn and to reflect on practice.
· Experience of working with vulnerable and disadvantaged women.
· Experience of providing one to one support to service users.
· Experience of supporting signposting to other agencies or services.
· Experience in working with groups of people.
· Experience in devising and/or delivering one off sessions to groups of people.
· Experience of working with volunteers and developing volunteer opportunities.
· Experience of maintaining excellent IT records and data collection for project outcomes including adherence to GDPR.
· Have access to own vehicle and business insurance for travelling between sites.
Experience – desirable
· Adaptability to be able to work with people from various backgrounds with understanding and with non-judgmental practice.
· Calm immediate response to potential high-risk situations.
· Experience of the voluntary sector
· Knowledge of local community
