About the role:

As a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprentices, you’ll be working with the Sustainability and Environmental teams – promoting and coordinating initiatives and supporting the implementation of environmental projects and sustainable practices as well as measuring effectiveness through the gathering of data and site audits.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective sustainability initiatives. Your focus will be on improving Freedom Leisure’s environmental performance and enhancing social responsibility efforts. You will also support the Environmental teams within the contracts to ensure environment and sustainability targets are achieved

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model and advocate for environmental sustainability and continuous improvement.
  • Provide support to roll out the internal campaigns created to ensure implementation of energy and resource efficiency best practice
  • Carry out site inspections and audits for environmental compliance
  • Proactively seek areas for improvements and opportunities, working with the environmental teams to continually improve environmental performance across the organisation.
  • Provide support with the preparation of reports and presentations to communicate the results and recommendations of the sustainability initiatives and performance.
  • Assist the Sustainability and Environment Team with monitoring the impact of initiatives and our performance by assisting with data collection, tracking indicators, calculations, validation, and reporting.
  • Assist with the collection of data for carbon reporting, external accreditation and monitoring of KPIs as required.
  • Play an active role in marketing environmental news to colleagues, customers and clients.
  • Assist with the facilitation of environmental awareness training and the delivery of virtual and face-to-face workshops and training courses.
  • Keep a pulse on industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices related to sustainability and leveraging this knowledge to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, customers, and community partners. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will be crucial in fostering collaboration and driving positive change.
  • Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and agreed with line manager.
  • Occasional training or meetings are organised outside normal working hours. The post holder will be expected to attend whenever reasonably practicable.
  • To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
  • To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams.
  • To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager or executive management team which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.

Entry Requirements:

  • You’ll need to attend an online interview with our Talent Team and pass initial assessments in maths and English once you have completed your registration.
  • You will need to be within a commutable distance to the office location listed.

Skills:

  • The skill to establish key relationships swiftly and appropriately.
  • An ability to feed into and translate into action the Sustainability and Environmental strategy and objectives
  • An ability to analyse problems, situations and information, think laterally and present creative solutions
  • IT skills to include Microsoft Word and Excel
