Housing Assistant

37 hours per week

Permanent

Grade 5: £24,702 to £26,421

Grade 6: £26,421 to £28,770

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Shared Housing Service working for both Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Council/s as a Housing Assistant. This role is a full time (37 hours a week) permanent role, working from Monday through to Friday.

The successful candidate will need to be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment dealing with customer enquiries and liaising with external agencies.

The ability to use all Microsoft packages would be advantageous.

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a GCSE in Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent qualification)
  • Have a strong customer focus and be able to adapt their behaviour to communicate with the customer in a way that suits the customer’s needs
  • Be able to use Microsoft programmes, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Sharepoint
  • Assist either Housing Options, Private Sector Housing or the Strategic Housing Teams to undertake administrative duties
  • Maintain the computerised systems used by the Housing Service
  • Actively promote services available to the public/stakeholders and keep information up to date
  • Provide advice to members of the public in respect of all aspects of Housing. This could be via telephone, email, web forms, in person or home visits.
  • Support the Principal Housing Officers to effectively monitor service delivery and report performance on a quarterly basis.
  • Submit government returns for various aspects of the Housing Service on the Governments central portal – DELTA.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports.
  • Attend Council meetings and meetings with statutory/voluntary agencies as required.
  • Raise purchase orders when services are purchased, raise invoices when the Local Authority is charging for services, and processing invoices for payment.
  • Raise sundry debtor accounts and monitor payments, to ensure effective use of Council funds.
  • The ability to undertake site and home inspections. Full driving license and access to a car is required.
