Can you support people in possibly their most difficult time?

A rewarding opportunity has become available to support the Councils Rough Sleeping Intervention Service to reduce rough sleeping within the Borough and make positive changes to lives! This role is fixed term for 9 months with possible extension dependent on funding.

We are looking for someone who thrives on different challenges daily and has the experience and knowledge to support people with complex needs, including addictions, mental health and physical health concerns.

A main part of the role is to go out and search for people sleeping rough in all weathers. This will be very early in the morning, in isolated areas including the beach, wooded areas and in town centres searching in doorways and alleyways.

You will build relations with clients to enable them to address their individual needs but also with agencies, services and internal departments and to advocate for your client when required to achieve the best outcome for them so interpersonal skills are key!

As you can imagine it is important we support our clients through these tough times appreciating their behaviours could change throughout, so we are looking for someone who is resilient, attentive, observant and maintains a professional attitude throughout.

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience within a housing support, rough sleeping or homelessness prevention
  • Ability to work unsociable hours to meet the demands of the role
  • Full driving licence
  • GCSE grade A - C or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Good communication skills to form relations with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to challenge inappropriate behaviour with positive reinforcement

To travel and cover the East Lindsey District area is essential, also be able to cover if required the East or South of Lincolnshire working within the Alliance and within the ‘One Team' ethos.

This is a full-time, front-line face to face role and will be based at Skegness, the Council has introduced agile working meaning the officer may also be able to work from other locations outside the office. However, this being a front-line face to face role, this option will be rare occurrence.
