A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen, we are seeking an enthusiastic dietitian to join our dynamic service! We are a team of three full-time paediatric community dietitians and a dietetic assistant, with admin support.

Working within the Children's Integrated Services; there are close working relationships with community paediatricians, children's community nurses, paediatric speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. You will either already have some paediatric dietetic experience, or be keen and interested to develop your skills in this area. This vacancy is for a Band 6 post with flexible working opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in providing a dietetic service to children and young people across the borough requiring enteral feeding and oral nutrition support, attending special schools or at home. The outpatient caseload includes faltering growth, children with allergies and other general conditions. The postholder will have opportunity to express an interest in which pathways they would like to jointly lead on. The department is established as trainers for placements for dietetic students each year and you will be actively involved in student training and the training of other health professionals, as required. The post holder will be supported by the paediatric team, with regular team meetings and clinical supervision. Participation in CPD is actively encouraged. Candidates must be qualified dietitians registered with the HCPC with excellent communication skills and a flexible approach.

  • BSc/MSc Nutrition and Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • HCPC registration

  • Membership of the BDA

  • Good Knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy
  • Awareness of the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance and ethnic and Standards of proficiency
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • Knowledge of different ethnic cultures and religions
  • Well-developed communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way
