Clinical Lead (maternity cover) Position Overview:

As the Clinical Lead at The Harlow Therapy and Coaching, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional clinical services, managing a team of skilled therapists, and contributing to the overall growth and success of the organisation. Alongside this role you will have the opportunity to practise Therapy. You will provide clinical leadership, guidance to our team of therapists and coaches, ensuring that our clients receive the highest standard of care.

Serving as the Clinical Lead offers a fantastic opportunity for professional growth. Please note that you should ideally be fully accredited by BACP, UKCP, or BABCP, or be in the process of applying for or being eligible for accreditation. The postholder will serve as the named Clinical Lead for BACP accreditation purposes. Clinical or counselling psychologists must have achieved chartered status with BPS and be registered with HCPC.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the clinical team, setting the tone for a supportive, collaborative, and client-centred environment. Managing the clinical aspects of counselling operations including effective resource allocation, prioritisation and problem solving.

Team Support: Supervise and support a team of therapists and coaches, including onboarding affiliates, aspects of training, performance evaluations, and professional development.

Clinical Oversight: Ensure the delivery of evidence-based, ethical, and high-quality therapeutic interventions and coaching services to clients, being the lead contact to BACP for service accreditation purposes. Clinical responsibility for key operational areas such as client allocation, risk assessment and management.

Clinical Guidelines: Maintain clinical guidelines, policies, and protocols to ensure consistent and effective service delivery and overseeing clinical governance. Being the clinical lead for the counselling and therapy function, overseeing ongoing BACP service accreditation, setting and maintaining high ethical and clinical standards while adhering to the BACP Ethical Framework.

Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate clinical practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards, ethical guidelines, and best practices. Reviewing and refining policies and procedures as appropriate; drawing on sector best practice and professional body guidelines as appropriate.

Client Care: Oversee the Consultation and Triage process. Collaborate with the client care team and work closely with our Case Manager to match clients with the most suitable therapists or coaches based following clinical assessment.

Case Consultation: Provide expert case consultation and guidance to therapists and coaches, particularly in complex or challenging cases.

Collaboration: Work closely with the Founders and Operations Director to ensure seamless coordination of care and alignment of goals.

Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in therapeutic approaches, coaching techniques, and relevant research. Maintain professional registration and accreditation. Continuing to commit to CPD and supervision requirements to ensure ongoing registration.

Ideal Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised practitioner counselling/psychotherapy/clinical or counselling psychology qualification, e.g. Diploma, Masters, or professional-level CBT qualifications and BACP or BABCP full accreditation, UKCP clinical membership or, for clinical and counselling psychologists, BPS chartered status and HCPC registration.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and coaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Familiar with using CRM systems.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of GDPR, data protection and FOI regulations.
  • Commitment to ethical and culturally sensitive practices.
  • Ability to thrive in a professional environment.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in clinical leadership, team management, and supervision.
  • 2 years post qualifying experience, experience in triage and assessment.
