Do you have teaching specialisation in Applied Linguistics? We are looking to appoint either a Teaching Assistant or Teaching Associate to work in our team in the School of English.

You will be expected to teach second language acquisition across a variety of applied linguistics topics, including English Language Teaching (ELT), psycholinguistics and language development.

Candidates are asked to confirm for which role(s) they wish to be considered as part of their application.

Teaching Assistant The Teaching Assistant's role will be to deliver undergraduate teaching in established modules, with assistance. You will manage your own teaching activity and reflect on practice and development of skills with guidance. You will have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Applied Linguistics or in a closely related area and evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Teaching AssociateThe Teaching Associate's role will be to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, pursue high quality teaching-related scholarship and carry out a full administrative role in the School including moderation. You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Second Language Acquisition or in a closely related area, as well as evidence of the ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels covering the above areas.

This post is available on a full time (36.25 hour), fixed term basis from 1st September 2024 to 30th June 2025. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Mentoring towards further career progression will be offered throughout the period of the post.
