Regulatory Compliance Officer£40,000-£47,000 plus excellent benefits (Work level 6A) Manchester city centre - hybrid working with colleagues splitting their time between home and the office

We're looking for a Regulatory Compliance Officer to join our Group Compliance team. The regulatory landscape is fast changing and complex. As a second line function our team supports and challenges the business to deliver effective ways of working that meet legal and regulatory requirements, to protect our Co-op and make sure we deliver change built on robust foundations.

In this role you'll support with how Co-op keeps pace with these changes so we can protect the business as we deliver our growth strategy. You'll partner with colleagues across the business to provide guidance, insight and monitoring of regulatory compliance, making sure we have effective strategies in place to meet regulatory and legal requirements. We'll also look to you to support with independent and objective 2nd line assurance to review compliance, provide MI reporting and support in evolving our business resilience strategy. You don't need compliance experience to be successful in this role, providing a great opportunity to build your career and gain great exposure across the business.

What you'll do:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Co-op to understand the issues and challenges, processes and controls relating to regulatory compliance activities,
  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance activities and culture engaging with colleagues to understand their business requirements and support their decision making
  • Pro-actively provide 2nd line assurance, reviewing compliance with the minimum requirements and provide effective MI reporting
  • Provide broader support across the Security, Compliance and Resilience 2nd line team when required
  • Conduct regulatory reporting such as developing regular updates of MI dashboards and reporting on progress against business continuity plans

This role would suit people who have:

  • Experience of working with legislation and policies and / or managing risk particularly compliance risk
  • Self-motivation and thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across departments
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills across all levels with the ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Good attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
