Job Responsibility:

The Cardio-Respiratory department at East Cheshire NHS trust is seeking to recruit a student cardiac physiologist to support our existing team. We are a dynamic, forward thinking, and friendly team who are continuously expanding and developing the services that we offer. The team is based at Macclesfield District General Hospital but the post holder will also work on rotation at the new purpose built community diagnostic centre in Congleton. The department offers a comprehensive range of non-invasive Cardiac and Respiratory investigations. We work closely with our Cardiology and Respiratory consultants and have strong links with the oncology team providing diagnostic support for local and national research projects. This exciting post combines in house training and 3 years part time, funded study at a local University to obtain a BSc in Clinical Physiologist. You will need to meet the course entry requirements- A level BBB including grade C or above in Biology or Human Biology (including a pass in A level biology practical) and will need 120 UCAS points or BTEC Extended Diploma (1080) DDM in applied science. Specific GCSE requirements - grade C or grade 4 in English Language, Science and Mathematics. Level 2 Functional Skills English also accepted. Or Pass Access to HE Diploma in a relevant subject (Science/ Medicine/ Dentistry/ Pharmacy) with a minimum 122 UCAS tariff points This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. Undertake a BSc in Clinical Physiology at a local university Act as a team player within the department Prioritise referrals and inform senior Physiologist in the case of difficulties arising. Undertake routine and emergency ECG's To fit 24 hour and long term monitoring devices such as ECG, blood pressure and cardiac event recorders. To undertake analysis of 24hr and long term monitoring devices with direct supervision. To maintain stock and assist with ordering and stock replenishment To undertake daily checks on the Resus trollies within the department and maintain accurate records of equipment and consumable expiry dates.
