Role: Principal Data Science Consultant
About Us: Join British Airways' Digital Directorate, a pivotal force driving innovation and excellence within our airline. As a Principal Data Science Consultant, you will be at the heart of our efforts to harness data science for business performance improvements, collaborating with stakeholders and leading a dynamic team.
What You'll Do:
- Manage and prioritise the analytics portfolio for the business partnering area.
- Provide deep knowledge of the business area and proactively challenge to drive optimal business decisions.
- Structure ill-defined and complex problems into key issues, advising on appropriate analytical techniques.
- Manage senior stakeholders confidently, becoming the key contact for analytical consultative advice.
- Ensure the quality and timeliness of analytic products and maintain data integrity.
- Report on the value of projects and advocate for the team across BA.
- Foster a continuous improvement culture, encouraging the use of new ideas and technology.
- Lead and work within self-tasking agile scrum teams, ensuring adherence to frameworks and principles.
What You'll Bring to British Airways:
- Strong data manipulation and data science skills; proficient in Python, R, and SQL.
- Leadership and coaching abilities in data science techniques such as machine learning, forecasting, and optimisation.
- Ability to structure ill-defined business problems into concise issues.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills; capable of presenting to large groups and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to challenge and influence senior stakeholders across BA and IAG.
- Proactive knowledge sharing with the business and analyst community.
Your Experience:
- Numerate degree with data science components or highly relevant experience.
- Proven experience in applying data science to business problems and leading teams in delivering solutions.
- Ability to develop deep business knowledge and understand BA's business plan and key initiatives.
- Awareness of BA's main competitors and key external factors of influence.
