Brookside Garden Centre is a vibrant and popular cafe known for its exceptional coffee, delicious homemade food, friendly atmosphere. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Cafe Supervisor to join our dedicated team.

The Cafe Supervisor will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the cafe, ensuring smooth service, maintaining high standards of quality, and fostering a positive environment for both customers and staff, whilst working alongside the café manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
  • Supervise and motivate a team of cafe assistants & kitchen staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and customer service.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure all duties are completed efficiently.
  • Address and resolve minor staff issues or escalate to management when necessary.
  • Customer Service Excellence:
  • Ensure all customers receive exceptional service, resolving any complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating outstanding customer interaction.
  • Maintain a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all patrons.
  • Operational Management:
  • Oversee daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Manage cash handling, till reconciliation, and daily sales reports.
  • Monitor inventory levels of stock and place orders
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
  • Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe, including front-of-house and back-of-house areas.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of beverages and food items to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
  • Quality Control:
  • Maintain consistent quality of all beverages (e.g., coffee, tea) and food items.
  • Regularly check product freshness and rotation.
  • Uphold brand standards and recipes.
  • Communication:
  • Liaise effectively with management regarding daily operations, staff performance, and customer feedback.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with team members.
  • Provide regular updates to management on operational challenges or successes.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (typically 1-2 years) in a supervisory or team leader role within a fast-paced cafe or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of coffee preparation.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
  • Strong leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in cash handling and POS systems.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene regulations in a food service setting.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Elementary food hygiene certificate

The Job:

· Full time (40 hours)

· Days: 5 over 7 (every second weekend)

· Permanent

· Earliest Start 08.00

· Latest Finish 18.00
