About the Role:
The primary purpose of this role is to monitor within the established risk framework the daily position taken by the trading and portfolio management team and to support the Head of Risk - In in the identification, assessment, measurement, reporting and management of the commercial risks associated with the GEM UK trading operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Assisting in making sure all positions in the trading and risk systems are accurate.
- Validation of all commodity forward curves.
- Investigation and analysis of commercial risks, including sensitivity and Value at Risk (VaR) analysis, together with regular validation through back-testing.
- Quantitative analysis of potential new business opportunities from a market risk perspective.
- Monitoring hedging strategies and mismatch limits.
- Running routine end-of-day processes within trading systems.
- Supporting MO delegated tasks as necessary
- Assisting other members of the Risk team with ad hoc tasks.
- Actively participated in the LRMC (Local Risk Management Committee).
- Proactively updating and improving python/PowerBI/DataIKU models and processes to reflect changes in the IS environment.
- Documentation of risk processes, procedures and policies.
Key Skills & Requirements:
- Quantitative and programmatic abilities. The desire for this skill set is due to the expectation that one understand and actively contribute to analysis and also due to the need to establish tools for such analysis
- Demonstrable experience of evaluating and measuring commodity price risk
- Demonstrable track record in corporate risk analysis and P&L
- Commercial acumen and the ability to analyse a problem and expose it to senior management.
- Use market knowledge to understand and explain commercial activities and strategies.
- Measure and provide insights into commercial performance vs risk appetite
- First Experience in a trading environment, ideally within an energy trading company, energy Supply Company or oil major.
- Demonstrable track record in corporate risk analysis is a plus
- MtM Calculation and risk analysis.
- Stress testing and VaR knowledge is desirable
Qualifications:
- Preferably MSc equivalent in an analytically focussed discipline
- To have exposure to Trading/ Finance/ Risk Management for a at least 1~2 years
