Job Responsibility:

Business Control OperatorDorset As a Barclays Business Control Operator, you will be ensuring the Barclays Control Framework is applied across the TC01 to ensure an effective and robust control environment. In this role, you will have accountability for driving quality risk management and assurance in line with Group policies, standards and methodologies, while also facilitating improvements to the framework, control environment and culture through the deployment of enhancements and best practice.

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the identification of new and emerging risks and designing of a suitable yet commercial control environment to provide protection
  • Implementing and managing the internal control framework that promotes a solid self-assessment culture and ownership by the line managers across the operations
  • Supporting the identification and resolution of control issues and themes including managing the resolution of audit and other BU control issues
  • Maintaining a detailed grasp of the Barclays Control Framework and other relevant Policies and be able to interpret these to ensure they are applied and embedded
  • Leading and coordinating 1st/2nd and 3rd line reviews
  • Working with the wider Operational Rigour team and business operations in proving the effectiveness of the control environment and control culture through self-testing
  • Acting and leading as an escalation point and point of contact for the Business aligned control teams

What we're looking for

  • Exceptional knowledge of Operational Risk & Controls and/or audit in a highly regulated business environment and a practical knowledge of internal controls
  • Previous experience of banking and financial services preferably in a Financial Crime role with Financial Crime regulations and policies
  • To have, or the ability to develop, an excellent knowledge of Financial Crime regulations and policies (AML, Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption)
  • Proven Stakeholder management experience including sound ability to negotiate and influence cross function both internally and externally to Barclays

Skills that will help you in the role

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent, with Risk and Control certification (IRM) preferred
  • Existing knowledge of the Barclays Control Network, including the Risk Event Policy, Issues Management, Control Library and Risk and Control Assessment Standards

Where will you be working?

The Bournemouth Wealth Office is located between Bournemouth and Poole with Sandbanks beach no more than 500 metres from the front door. We have a significant number of restaurants and sports clubs locally which make this a great office to work in. We work very closely with our BUK colleagues and share the growing Barclays Eagle Lab on site. This creates significant interest across the region and provides an opportunity for the teams to get together regularly. #LI-Hybrid
