Job SummaryThe Senior Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to residents in a care home setting. This position involves working closely with individuals who require assistance with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The Senior Care Assistant will also be responsible for supervising junior staff and contributing to the development and implementation of personalised care plans.

Duties

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support residents in maintaining their independence while providing necessary assistance.
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance on best practices in senior care.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents’ progress and any changes in their condition.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Drive residents to appointments or social activities as required, ensuring their safety during transport.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss resident care strategies and improvements.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
  • Experience in senior care or a related field is essential; knowledge of care home operations is advantageous.
  • Ability to develop and implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Leadership qualities to supervise and motivate junior staff effectively.
  • Proficient IT skills for maintaining records and documentation related to resident care.
  • A valid driving licence is preferred for transporting residents when necessary.

Pay: £13.10-£14.00 per hour
