Fixed term contract until 31/05/2025

Southern Housing is seeking a talented candidate to join us as a Customer Accounts Visiting Officer in our Customer Transactions department.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with an interest in revenue maximisation and collection through a prompt and consistent arrears management and debt recovery. Our ideal candidate will be a good communicator, a strong negotiator and should be able to use their skills to work well with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.

As the Customer Accounts Visiting Officer, you will visit our residents in their homes (across all tenures). Provide support and advice on income and benefit related matters to help sustain their tenancy. You will work to balance our belief that rent should be paid with our corporate aim to sustain tenancies and represent Southern Housing in court on income related matters.

Location

  • You'll be based in our London region.

With the option of working in a hybrid way when appropriate and as agreed with your manager. This may also involve travel to our development schemes.

What you'll need

  • A good knowledge of the relevant legislation and best practice relating to arrears management.
  • Self-motivated and able to organise, plan and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines and able to work alone.
  • Patience, tolerance, and resilience to deal with challenging conversations.
  • Drive to achieve wide-ranging KPIs and provide a first-class service.
  • Excellent customer service skills and complaint handling skills.
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Able to build collaborative relationships and work productively across teams and external bodies.
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
