Job description
The Role
We're looking for an individual to lead a portfolio of technical client projects and support internal product development around risk and regulatory issues within complex trading and wholesale businesses. Leading the development of trading and wholesale conduct topics including Market Abuse, Algorithmic Trading, Risk Free Rates, Benchmarks, FX Consent Orders and Best Execution, you'll contribute as a subject matter expert on regulatory issues to larger projects and represent KPMG as a subject matter expert externally, e.g. via round tables, conferences, industry working groups.
You'll advise clients on the benefits and impact of regulations, current industry practices and advancements relating to trading businesses, keep abreast of all latest trends and any new regulations, leveraging international SME support where applicable, and apply your skills to a broad range of banking risk related issues supporting both regional and national propositions.
The Person
The right person for this role will have a blend of industry and regulatory knowledge, as well ashaving the soft skills that come from a consulting mindset.
Industry knowledge
Strong understanding of:
- sell side trading and capital markets business
- electronic and algorithmic trading governance, systems and controls,
- financial products (cash and derivatives) including the front to back of how they are traded, booked and risk managed,
- three lines of defence model,
- role of key bank functions including Front office, Market Risk, Product Control, Treasury and Compliance.
Regulatory knowledge Knowledge of new regulatory developments impacting banking clients and impacting trading businesses, in particular:
- Algorithmic trading
- Best Execution
- Market Abuse Regulation
- MiFID II
- SMCR
Involvement in relevant industry working groups or associations is advantageous.
Consulting experience Flexibility and agility to contribute in a senior capacity to a broad range of banking engagements.
Excellent oral / written communication, planning, project management, networking and influencing skills.
Flexibility to work across the UK (and internationally) where required.
Experience of financial products and front-to-back controls.
Strong project management skills evidenced by a demonstrable track record of managing consulting projects.
Strong technical understanding of market conduct control testing framework.
Track record of producing consulting deliverables in various formats:
- advisory gap analysis reports,
- independent control testing reports,
- services to assist on ad hoc Front Office, Risk and Compliance client led projects,
- market studies,
- training materials and sessions,
- workshops and round tables,
- thought leadership articles.
Track record of managing risk and financial aspects of consulting engagements.
