We have identified several organisational shifts as part of our ongoing business strategy. The Supply Chain Team play a crucial role in helping to deliver the Nando's strategic goals through providing a robust and stable supply chain, improving gross profit and margin, and addressing risk. This team is responsible for developing strategies to ensure we source products and services that we are proud of to support running restaurants brilliantly and enable our Central Support teams.
Main purpose of the role:
- To set and implement the Nando's UK food and beverage buying strategy.
- To lead the buying team to deliver the strategy, support the restaurant operations and develop the buying team's individual and collective capabilities.
- To play an integral role in the NPD/ EPD and launch process, attending key meetings and chairing where required, and coordinating the activity of the buying team in support of the process and meetings.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
- To develop the buying strategy and supply base that supports the Nando's UK business strategy, enable our growth and leverage the business scale.
- To identify risk in our supply chain and implement risk mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply to our restaurants.
- To be accountable for central GP budget and performance.
- To develop valued supplier relationships with strategic suppliers and ensure supplier relationship management and performance management is applied across all suppliers.
- To lead the buying team to deliver the buying strategy whilst developing their technical skills and knowledge, set targets and monitor KPIs, create development and succession plans and provide continuous feedback and coaching.
- To drive a strong sustainability and animal welfare agenda across the supply base.
- To ensure effective stakeholder relationships, particularly Food team, Customer team and Operations (Regional Directors and Managing Directors).
- To support Nando's Southern Africa sourcing plan.
The candidate should possess / be:
- A demonstrable and thorough understanding of the complete food and drink supply chain, across multiple categories.
- 10+ years' experience in a buying leadership role within a large, multi-site organisation.
- Proven track record of leading, developing and inspiring skilled buying teams to achieve continuous improvement.
- Gravitas, strong influencing skills and ability to engage and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- In depth understanding of industry best practice for buying standards in the supply chain, including sustainability.
- Able to work from the Nando's Putney office as per the prevailing company requirement (currently 3 days per week) and attend all key meetings in person as much as possible.

Additional role requirements: You may be required to work additional hours as necessary to fulfil your role and meet the demands of the business, this may include weekends and Bank holidays in order to cover escalations or emergencies.
