The postholder will join the Policy Research Unit in Health and Care Systems and Commissioning (PRU HSSC), based at the University of Manchester.

Previous administrative experience in a research setting would be advantageous.
Background
The postholder will be part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Policy Research Unit in Health and Care Systems and Commissioning (PRU HSSC), www.prucomm.ac.uk).
PRU HSSC is a collaboration between the University of Manchester, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and the University of Kent. Led from Manchester by Prof Kath Checkland and Prof Matt Sutton, the Unit undertakes research to inform Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) policy on the organisation of the health system and the commissioning/planning of services. One of 20 Units funded by NIHR, members of the Unit work closely with policy makers from DHSC and relevant Arm's Length Bodies such as NHS England. At any one time the Unit will carry out 2-3 larger scale (1-2 years) projects and several shorter-term pieces of work as requested by DHSC. In addition to project reports and academic outputs, the Unit provides bespoke policy briefings and presentations for policy makers and works closely with civil servants to ensure that the research is relevant and helpful.
The Unit is embedded within the Health Organisation, Policy and Economics (HOPE) research group, in the Centre for Primary Care and Health Services Research. This is one of the five Centres within the Division of Population Health, Health Services Research and Primary Care.
The successful applicant will report to Catherine Elliott, Project Manager of PRU HSSC, and work with Profs Checkland and Sutton and other members of the PRUComm team. This is a part time post that allows homeworking from within the UK with a minimum of one working day on site, typically a Tuesday.
