We are looking to appoint a proven senior executive to join our talented and newly mobilised Integration Management Office (IMO). The IMO will be the ‘Mission control' for Integration, managing strategy and planning and prioritising key activities.

Reporting to the Accountable Executive for the IMO you will play an important role leading the successful delivery of multiple large enterprise workstreams. This role spans multiple business areas and subsidiaries, with the aim of achieving maximum return on investment, within time, budget, and scope constraints.

We are looking for a highly inclusive, collaborative, and progressive thought leader to support responsible SMFs as necessary, and practically develop a pathway to the North Star end state. You will be part of a complex network that includes Board and ExCo members, regulators, business leaders, and colleagues.

The Integration Programme Director will draw on the expertise of the Chief Operating Officer and utilise Nationwide's partners to lead the discovery, development, execution, and delivery of functional workstreams, ensuring successful integration.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a true enterprise leader, and we will therefore need you to be adept and proven at navigating at an enterprise level (horizontally and vertically) towards collective Society outcomes, galvanising and energising teams, winning hearts and minds and taking colleagues on a journey towards dynamic ways of working.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, at one of our offices in Swindon or London.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you'll be doing

As a key member of the IMO, you will be leading multi-disciplinary workstream teams in the analysis, planning, and execution of agreed workstream programmes of work. You will be expected to demonstrate strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. You will need to consider complex external and internal factors, thinking within broad concepts and principles to create the programme delivery plan. This role requires the ability to create new concepts and pathfinding solutions to deliver outcomes. This role is designed to maximise return on investment and pace of delivery to underpin the desired outcomes of scope, value, budget, and time, including coordinating detailed day one workstream plans.

You will be structuring and prioritising key activities of work, ensuring adherence to appropriate governance, risk, and guardrails, utilising suitable delivery methodologies, and aligning to the change and risk frameworks across Nationwide and subsidiaries. Collaboration and management of senior stakeholders will be crucial to ensure alignment of work, manage expectations, resolve tensions in priorities, and manage risks and dependencies to deliver the right outcomes for customers and colleagues.

Your role will also involve actively supporting all workstreams and their respective teams to develop, collaborate and adapt comprehensive and appropriately detailed integration plans and projects. Developing and maintaining strategic and delivery relationships with third parties will be critical in this role.

Tracking and managing budgets and spend of associated workstreams, as well as progress against deliverables will be part of your responsibilities. Reporting risks, including thorough RAID management, project status, including roadblocks, milestones, and successes with all IMO stakeholders will be a key part of your role.

Operating with an enterprise mindset to create and inspire a culture of innovation and creativity through cross-functional coaching and development will be expected. You will build a network of transparent, digitally aligned, scalable and adaptable teams that drive proposition outcomes to achieve competitive advantage through zero-based design and agility. Providing hands-on support where appropriate to drive workstream deliverables will also be part of your role.

About you

Given the extensive breadth of challenge faced by senior leaders, we are keen to attract a seasoned Integration Programme Director with the highest personal and professional standards. You should also possess strong intellectual capacity and EQ, gravitas as well as a positive, authentic self-sufficient leadership style who role models behaviours consistent with the Society's culture and values.

You will have extensive and relevant professional experience already in an Integration Programme Director role or similar sized role within a large, complex Financial Services organisation.

Added to a proven track record of working on large-scale Integration projects and complex change initiatives and a strong understanding of integration processes, project management, and change management.

We're looking for someone who possess excellent stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams to ensure seamless coordination throughout the integration process with the ability to create a complex delivery plan.

Emotional intelligence is key for this role. You will have a well-developed sense of self and the ability to manage its impact both on oneself and others. Outstanding interpersonal skills are also required, with the ability to nurture and lead a high-performing team, leveraging individual styles and preferences.

Experience in leading teams (including third parties) and making decisions in ambiguous situations is essential. We'll need you to have significant experience in setting a compelling vision and communicating it to stakeholders at all levels. A detailed understanding and practical application of different change delivery methodologies is also required.

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to advise, prioritise, and measure success. You will need to balance tensions and ambition in service of our vision in a highly complex environment.
