As the Finance Analyst - Energy you will focus on providing support to the Cash and Banking Manager and the Financial Controller, to ensure that the highest standards of financial control are applied across British Gas.
It is not necessary to have a financial qualification, but you will need experience with data and reporting along with strong analytical and customer facing skills. Any previous finance experience would be advantageous.
Working with the business teams you will facilitate interactions and knowledge transfer where required between the business teams and wider finance teams.
Location
With our Flexible First working arrangements we empower our colleagues to work in a way that best suits them - meaning location doesn't need to be a barrier. You will be expected to travel to Leicester a few times a month, but the role can be primarily home based.

The Role
- Support in developing Bank reconciliations and monitoring key controls.
- Provide support and training to Offshore partner teams on key bank reconciliations.
- Support the production of reporting of current/historical activity across British Gas including performance of all month end and post-month end accounting activities.
- Support the wider team to review and report performance of British Gas against targets.
- Understand, reflect, and apply the appropriate Centrica accounting policies for British Gas.
- Support the twice-yearly external audit of British Gas and the annual preparation of statutory accounts.
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Finance.
- Develop understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts.
- Support Transformation activities through delivery of changes to financial control methodologies, to drive greater understanding, efficiency and standardisation.
- Undertake bespoke reporting and analysis as required.
The Person
- Highly proficient at Excel, with a proven track record of designing, maintaining and updating spreadsheet-based reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving and reconciliations.
- Flexible and adaptable working in a small team for a highly regulated industry.
- Experience of analysing and reconciling data, identifying issues and resolving, ensuring process robustness.
- Motivated by continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
