You'll have an impact on bringing digital-first banking to our customers by defining the future state architecture vision and strategies for our Global Businesses and Global Functions.
You'll be developing business, data, software, and integration architecture standards to manage processes, systems, and technology complexity across the HSBC Group. Through dynamic, agile collaboration you'll work closely with business partners to translate their requirements into integrated solutions that can be deployed globally using consistent service patterns for ease of deployment, support, and enhancement.

Enterprise Technology is the Technology organisation responsible for the design, build and ongoing maintenance of the systems owned by the Group Functions (Risk, Compliance, Finance, Core Banking, Corporate Functions and Deputy COO). The organisation consists of over 8,000 people working in collaboration across 14 countries, to support over 3,000 applications.
At Foundations IT we develop & run enabling services that provide capabilities to support alignment of Finance's data source strategy with the group data architecture goals. We leverage data virtualization and a modern data entitlement technique to ensure efficient and seamless access to data, maximising Finance Value Streams efforts to deliver business value by reducing laborious data souring tasks.
Central to our operations is the RADAR platform, a globally positioned data virtualisation layer designed with focus on enabling simple but authorised, compliant and secure access to the organizations data products. At RADAR, we're pioneering the next generation of data distribution solutions, and we're looking for a visionary Lead Solutions Architect to spearhead our efforts. In this role you will:
- The role will require you to work as part of the RADAR product engineering team and work closely with the business Product Owner to ensure the product has a clear product roadmap. We are looking for a hands-on architect that can and is willing to contribute to the RADAR codebase.
- Ensure product capabilities & features uplifts are sufficiently defined and documented to support engineering implementation.
- Ensure architecture designs logged in the in line with architectural governance processes, ensuring required Design Authorities approval are obtained prior to implementation.
- Provide hands on code development to support PoC's or to advance your personal understanding of software products.
- Provide support to engineering pods on evolving best practices and technologies.
- Ensuring the RADAR pods shared goals and objectives are met.
- Contribute to the RADAR product documentation where required
- Proving oversight & strategy recommendations for certain technical capabilities across Foundation IT applications
Requirements
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven experience working as a solutions architect or developer.
- Expertise in Java development, cloud platform implementations, microservices architecture, and API design and integration.
- Experience working with data intensive platforms and different data communication protocols.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker), Kubernetes, service mesh (e.g., Istio) and networking principles in cloud environments.
- Experience of setting up and rolling out data mesh, data platforms (specifically Spark, Trino, GCP BiqQuery, DataProc and DataFlow).
- Hands on experience designing data entitlement and anonymization solutions
- Hands on experience with Data Virtualization technologies
