At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors.

Whether in a teaching & learning role or in one of our specialised Business Support functions, you'll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others.

We're already a successful college, but we're continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of Job coach, you'll predominantly be based at Waterfront, Huddersfield and your focus will be on supporting young people with SEND whilst on external work placement.

Due to significant growth in our SEND provision, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Foundation Learning Department. As a Job Coach, you will work closely with curriculum staff, the work placement officer and employers to create opportunities for students with SEND to gain meaningful work experience to support them on their pathway to employment.

The successful applicant will provide high quality job support to young people with learning difficulties and disabilities to develop job search skills and other work-related skills as required, using systematic instruction based on individual needs. The role requires an ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and employers and to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure that students develop employability skills in work settings (potentially leading to employment) whilst meeting the requirements of employers.

You will work on site and off site and will need to be prepared to travel to various settings with groups or individual students. An inclusive approach to disabilities and the skills to advocate for young people with additional needs would be a positive.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C)

Due to the nature of our work, it's essential you're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We believe learning is not just for our students: it's an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You'll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.

We want people who believe in the value of education, and who can contribute to our culture of supporting and challenging one another.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
