Job Responsibility:
The Programmes Team are responsible for the recording of the rotational placements of the postgraduate doctors throughout their training programme, keeping accurate records of their posts/placements and personal details. Each administrator has a portfolio of specialties that they are responsible for updating placements, processing applications, and answering day to day queries. We also manage all requests for Out of Programmes, Inter-Deanery Transfers, Less Than Full Time workings and all requests relating to Rotation and placement management for doctors in training. Excellent communication skills are essential as we liaise closely with the Training Programme Directors (TPDs) who are the educators (Consultants) of our postgraduate doctor workforce, and the Medical Staffing teams (Trusts) where they are training. You will also need to have a keen eye for details and data quality as mistakes in our database could result in doctors showing up to the wrong hospital, or not being paid correctly. We currently look after approximately 10,000 junior doctors in training pathways. As an administrator in the Programmes Team, you will request rotation information from the Training Programme Director (TPD - Consultants) and input this information on to our database. You will be expected to check these rotations for errors, query any issues, and even challenge TPDs where needed. Diplomacy and problem-solving skills will be key. Our doctors can apply to work less than full-time or take breaks from training. Both are time sensitive applications with impact on external stakeholders. You will be responsible for processing these for your given specialties and so will need to be able to prioritise well, especially during the busy rotation periods. In addition, our team is often the first point of contact for our doctors and you will need to monitor a busy e-mail inbox and respond to a wide variety of queries.
