Job Responsibility:

We are a recruiting for a Volunteering Recruitment Coordinator primarily based in our Ashbourne office with occasional work to be carried out from our Buxton Office.

Duration 12 months (extension of the post will be subject to funding)

Probationary Period 3 months

Based at Connex Community Support Ashbourne office with requirement to also frequently work from our Buxton office and to attend meetings across the geographical area; Flexibility for occasional home working.

Area Covered Derbyshire Dales, Buxton and surrounding area

Hours of Work 18 per week

Salary 26,873 pro rata, £13,073 actual (2024 NJC pay award pending)

Reporting to Chief Operating Officer

Purpose

To coordinate a range of activities to promote volunteering and recruit volunteers for Connex Community Support and other organisations serving the community.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of volunteering promotion and recruitment activities ensuring effective engagement with the public and all organisations that are seeking to involve volunteers.

2. Ensure information about volunteering is up to date, easily accessible and presented in a captive manner using all available methods incl. Connex website and social media, Connex Volife (or similar function which may be identified in the future), printed materials, networks, talks and events.

3. Provide good customer service to members of the public enquiring about volunteering and support them with finding the right vacancy, including support throughout the recruitment process where required.

4. Assist Connex Service Leads as well as external organisations in the development of volunteering roles and methods of volunteer recruitment.

5. Ensure the collation of all relevant data for monitoring and evaluating the volunteering recruitment service and prepare relevant reports for line management, funders and the Board of Trustees.

6. Network with other professionals and agencies that are relevant to volunteering recruitment and represent Connex Community Support at relevant meetings.

7. Proactively support activities to celebrate volunteers' contributions, e.g. by helping with relevant events and supporting Connex communicating with its volunteers.

8. Support Connex with the development of a pool of volunteers who are able to support multiple services and volunteering roles.

9. Maintain an awareness of developments affecting volunteering and promote good practice in working with volunteers.

10. Comply with all Connex Community Support policies and statutory requirements.

11. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.

Person Specification

1. Essential Qualities

1.1 A team player with very good interpersonal skills and experience of working with a wide variety of individuals and organisations.

1.2 Outgoing and proactive in seeking new opportunities for volunteer recruitment and the promotion of volunteering

1.3 Very good communication skills together with the ability to present information in a captive way - both face to face, through printed and digital publication

1.4 Very good IT skills incl. managing and creating website and social media content, working with WordPress and publishing software (currently Canva), databases as well as standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)

1.5 Very good knowledge of volunteering, best practice in working with volunteers and statutory requirements relevant to volunteering

1.6 Ability to provide very good customer service to a wide variety of people and organisations

1.7 Understanding and commitment to Equal Opportunities and empathy with marginalized groups.

1.8 Self-motivated and able to take responsibility, organising time efficiently and handling conflicting work pressures.

1.9 Must be prepared to attend both Connex offices and travel across the local area for meetings using own relevant transport.
