Job overview

As Immunisation and Public Health Specialist Midwife you will lead, monitor and implement the Immunisation and related Public Health programmes in line with national standards and service specifications.

You will need to be naturally responsive to the changing demands on your priorities and workloads, and manage your own diary efficiently. The post holder will need to be confident enough to instigate and drive local change to meet the expectations and standards set by the national programmes.

The role will be cross-site to cover both The Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary. You will need to be willing to travel flexibly to both sites and to outside events/meetings as and when necessary.

This role will be an excellent opportunity to implement a service from its conception and gain experience in leadership and management.

The Immunisation and Public Health Specialist Midwife will be responsible for the management and delivery of the NHS England maternal and neonatal vaccination programmes delivered by maternity services within the NCA. They will ensure that the programmes run efficiently and effectively and comply with quality standards.

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group provides maternity services for the women of Rochdale, Oldham, and Bury. The Immunisation and Public Health Specialist Midwife works to ensure the provision of the immunisation programmes is by appropriately trained staff and ensures that specified KPI's are achieved.

The post holder will work within the framework of the NMC Midwives Rules, The Code and other NMC Guidance, and the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group policies and guidelines.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.

The NCA can no longer accept applications from International Nurses and Midwives who are yet to complete all competencies needed to receive a full NMC PIN to practice in the UK as we have paused our OSCE programme indefinitely.
