Job Responsibility:
Affinity Water, the UK's largest water only company are seeking a Water Neutrality Programme Manager to spearhead a range of initiatives that support our Water Neutrality strategy and drive innovation within the industry.
This role requires a collaborative leader capable of working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver successful water-neutral developments as part of the Ofwat and Nesta-backed innovation project.
About the Role:
As the Water Neutrality Programme Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of initiatives across three sites, focusing on behavioural change, technological advancements, and a combination of both. This unique project requires someone with strong technical knowledge of water quality, experience in managing complex water or wastewater networks, and the ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to lead the delivery of water neutrality projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Lead water neutrality projects from concept to completion, including commissioning consultancies or researchers for project delivery and evaluation.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and deliver a clear vision for project objectives, guiding the project team to achieve them.
- Planning and Execution: Create detailed cost estimates, schedules, key milestones, deliverables, and overall plans for projects.
- Performance Tracking: Report on key performance indicators to ensure projects meet their agreed objectives and measurable outcomes within a fixed budget.
- Governance: Manage programme governance activities and attend working groups and meetings that support programme delivery.
- Data Analysis: Coordinate and analyse data, producing reports to measure the impact of the projects and the wider portfolio when required.
- Customer Focus: Ensure the portfolio meets customer needs and target areas for optimal water savings to facilitate water neutral developments.
- Opportunity Identification: Identify new opportunities, requirements, and resources needed to achieve identified objectives.
- Collaboration: Work with multiple internal departments and external stakeholders, including customers and community groups, to support water neutral developments.
- Contractor Management: Manage external contractors or agencies to deliver projects to agreed outcomes.
- Business Case Management: Regularly review and update the business case.
- Communication: Lead weekly and monthly calls for Project Sponsor, Senior Leaders, Steering Group, and Technical Steering Group.
Experience Required:
- Project Management: Experienced in working on large, complex projects.
- Developer Interaction: Worked extensively with Developers and NAVs.
- Development Experience : Delivered in the Development Experience environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Technical knowledge of water fittings.
- Regulatory Expertise: Good understanding of water regulations and legislation
- Strategic Thinking: Forward-looking, with an ability to think strategically.
- Concept Translation: Ability to translate complex concepts into delivery activities.
- Adaptability: Ability to deal with constant change, demonstrating an agile and flexible approach to work.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Good stakeholder engagement skills in complex multi-stakeholder environments.
- Self-Motivation: Self-motivated with a highly organised approach.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient user of Microsoft packages, including Project, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Qualifications:
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is desirable but not essential.

- Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (dependent on skills and experience).
- Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week
