Job Responsibility:

We, in Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust (PCFT), are delighted to invite applications for a full time Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Psychological Therapist post . This post are on the Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Serious Mental Health problems (Psychosis and Bipolar Disorder or Personality Disorders) at the Greater Manchester Mental Health Psychological Therapies Training Centre. Applications are particularly encouraged from people with an interest and knowledge / experience of Cognitive Behavioural therapy. These post will be based in the Stockport adult community mental health services . The post holder will be a member of the Secondary Care Psychological Service and the Community Mental Health Team. They will provide formal psychological interventions using newly developed skills whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. Once the course requirements are met and the post holder has achieved provisional accreditation with the BABCP, they will progress to a full-time qualified band 7 CBT Psychological Therapist role within the Trust. This is a transition and training role, which is a fixed term contract. Once the course requirements are met and the post holder has achieved provisional accreditation with the BABCP they will progress to a full-time qualified band 7 CBT therapist role. The post holder will work within adult Community Transformed mental health services in PCFT. To attend to the training course requirements and undertake all of the below duties under the supervision of a clinical supervisor. Develop psychological formulations for individual patients that contribute towards the overall assessment of their care needs Collaboratively establish individual patients goals towards recovery. Determine suitability of specific psychological interventions, including group and individual modalities, based on the patients assessment/formulation Plan, deliver and review individual and group psychological interventions for specific patients. With service user consent, to video tape clinical sessions for viewing in clinical supervision and for submission for course assignments. Identify gaps within and potential developments of the psychological therapy programme, reporting these to supervisory staff The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.   • A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy.
OR
  • Evidence of meeting the Knowledge Skills and Attitude (KSA) requirements of BABCP. 2 years post qualified experience for Psychological Well-being Practitioners
Desirable
  • Some additional training in relation to CBT, or other psychological therapies (i.e. short courses)
  • Significant additional training in CBT/ Psychological approaches (i.e. formal training courses, diploma, degree etc).
Knowledge/ Experience Essential Demonstrable post qualification experience in your core profession. Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services in a qualified role. Significant experience of working with adults with severe and complex mental health difficulties including psychosis and/ or personality disorder. Experience of working within a mental health MDT Experience of assessing and managing risk Demonstrates a good understanding of psychosis and/ or personality disorder Demonstrates a positive attitude to working with clients with personality disorder/interpersonal difficulties or psychosis. Ability to manage own caseload and time. Demonstrates high standards in written communication Skills and Abilities
  • Able to attend an academic course

  • Computer literate
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS

  • High level of enthusiasm and motivation about working psychologically with clients with PD and/ or psychosis
  • Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships

  • Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, & in own personal and professional development and in supervision
Work related circumstances Essential
  • Able to attend required training, including intensive teaching blocks.
  • Willingness to engage in specific training as required meeting the needs of this user group.
  • Ability to contain and work with organisational stress and to maintain high quality clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and stressful conditions
  • The capacity to tolerate frequent exposure to unpredictable working conditions including demanding, verbally and possibly physically aggressive clients
  • Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
  • Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
  • Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure.
