At Southwark council, we're looking for a dedicated Emergency Planning and Resilience Officer to join our small, tight-knit team. In this pivotal role, you'll be at the heart of managing, developing, and delivering a wide portfolio of contingency planning work streams, ensuring we meet the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. Your work will be crucial in shaping a safer, more resilient community. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess Long-term Needs: Dive into the intricate world of emergency planning and business continuity, identifying the long-term service requirements and development needs. Your insights will help us stay ahead of the curve and ready for any challenge.
- Create Strategies: Develop and implement council-wide strategies that drive our various schemes forward. You'll align these strategies with local, pan-London, and national developments, ensuring we're always on the cutting edge of resilience and preparedness.
- Manage Key Areas: Take charge of designated areas within business continuity, resilience, emergency planning and response, and counterterrorism (CT) support. Your expertise will be vital in managing and enhancing our preparedness efforts.
- Coordinate Services: Oversee and coordinate all services provided by our business continuity and disaster recovery arrangements, as well as our emergency scheme. Your leadership will ensure seamless, effective responses during critical times.
How will you make an impact as our Emergency Planning & Resilience Officer?
- You will come with substantial experience of business continuity and emergency planning preferably gained working within a public sector organisation.
- Extensive experience in managing and developing staff, with a keen focus on driving improvements through innovation.
- Deep knowledge of contingency planning work streams, to ensure Southwark meets the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004
- Strong communication skills are key - you'll need to convey complex strategies with clarity and confidence.
- A solid grasp of Emergency Planning best practices and Resilience principles will set you up for success in this role.
- This role offers flexible home working blended with travel into our London Bridge HQ.
