Job Responsibility:

An exciting opportunity is available at the Wales Fertility Institute (WFI) to work as a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine. This post is for a highly motivated individual to join a well-established multidisciplinary team at the Wales Fertility Institute. The post is a Full Time 10 session permanent appointment and will commence as soon as possible. The successful applicant will join the senior team of two consultants, one Specialist grade and one specialty Doctor in providing a complete range of services, as well as managing and training junior medical and nursing staff. The post holder will be expected to participate in all activities of the consultant-led general fertility and assisted reproductive technology (ART) service, including outpatient clinics, theatre lists and IVF procedures (egg retrievals, embryo transfers, fertility scanning etc.). The successful candidate will also support the senior team in providing on-call cover for the Reproductive Medicine service during evenings and weekends on a 1:4 basis. The post holder will be expected to play a key role in the on-going development of the Fertility service and will work alongside the Clinical Lead and senior management team to further develop the fertility preservation service. Swansea Bay University Health Board provides services to around 400,000 people, primarily serving the populations of Neath, Port Talbot, and Swansea and their respective communities. In addition, the Health Board provides a large range of regional and sub-regional services, including Renal Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Forensic Mental Health and Learning Disability Services, Haemophilia and Autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation, Pancreatic surgery and Burns and Plastics. The Health Board has three major hospitals: Morriston and Singleton Hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The Wales Fertility Institute (WFI) was established in 2013 as the regional provider for tertiary care fertility services in South Wales and is hosted by Swansea Bay University Health Board . WFI now offers an NHS and fee paying service to patients wishing to access diagnostic or fertility services. Clinical services are provided from Neath Port Talbot Hospital and University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and Singleton Hospital, Swansea (Andrology only) WFI is commissioned by the Wales Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC).
