Job Introduction The starting salary for this role is £35,730 per annum for working 36 hours per week and is fixed-term funded until 31st March 2025. Join our award-winning Trading Standards team and make a real impact on public health in Surrey. We're looking for an Illicit Tobacco and Underage Sales Officer to join our dynamic team. This role, funded by the Public Health team in Surrey, offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the protection of our community's health. Your work will be entirely within Surrey and the office base will be in Woodhatch, although there are flexible working arrangements in place which can be discussed further. Rewards and Benefits

About the RoleAs a crucial member of our team, you'll carry out interventions, with minimal supervision, to determine if traders will sell age-restricted products to persons below the permitted age. These products include tobacco, vapes, nitrous oxide and alcohol. Your role will also involve recruiting and managing young people (under 18) as test purchasers. Together with partner organisations, you'll orchestrate test purchase interventions and collect evidence in compliance with legal standards. Should non-compliance surface, you'll be responsible for producing meticulous reports that enable us to consider appropriate actions, including prosecution. In this role you'll collaborate closely with colleagues from Surrey Public Health, the police and other relevant organisations. Together, you'll devise effective interventions and share valuable insights and intelligence with our partners. As part of your responsibilities you'll also engage in promoting awareness events and activities related to products like tobacco and vapes. Your efforts will help us keep our communities well-informed. Shortlisting CriteriaTo be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
